Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has directed the immediate payment of seven months salaries of 594 SUBEB ‘sunset’ teachers which have been withheld since June, 2020.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Press Secretary Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development titled, “Kwara State Government Takes Stand on 2019 SUBEB workers”.
‘Sunset’ SUBEB teachers are teachers who were employed towards the end of the tenure of the former Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatai Ahmed.
Recall that, The informant247 reported the agonies of these affected teachers whose salaries have been withheld since June.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor has ordered immediate payment of their salaries today barely four(4) weeks after this Newspaper’s report concerning their plights.
The statement read in part: “Everyone whose salaries were withheld since June has now had same paid strictly on compassionate grounds.”
Abdul rasaq was also quoted saying, “The government’s decision to withhold their salaries was not unilateral or punitive. It was as a result of the unlawful insertion of their names to the payroll without executive approval.”
