The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has referred to the emergence of Senator Bola Tinubu as the president as the work of God.
The first class traditional monarch said the victory of Tinubu was the will of God.
Abubakar made this revelation while speaking at a coronation of the new Emir of Dutse in Jigawa State, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Sanusi.
The Islamic cleric implored the people of Nigeria to welcome the outcome of the February 25 presidential election.
He also told the people to accept their leaders because they “can’t fight God’s making.”
“Leadership is from Allah Almighty given to whoever He wishes at any time He wishes and nobody can query Him or change what He did.
“God Almighty did what He wished. We should consider it an act of God. He made the winners and nobody can stop or change what God Almighty did,” he said.
The electoral commission announced the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election.
According to INEC, Tinubu came victorious with 8.8 million votes.
The presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar came second with 6.9 million votes.
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, had 6.1 million votes.
