Zamfara relocates NYSC orientation camp to Gusau over insecurity

The Zamfara State government has temporarily moved its National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp from Tsafe Local Government to Gusau, the state capital, over growing insecurity.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Hassan Muhammad Gusau, made this revelation while welcoming the Director-General of the NYSC Brigadier General M K Fadah.

The Deputy Governor briefed the Director-General of the scheme about the state of security in the region, telling the him that the situation of security is gradually getting better as relative peace is returning, while people of the state go about their normal businesses.

The Deputy Governor further revealed that the State Government supports the authority of the NYSC for withholding the orientation camp activities in the State due to the then rising security challenges.

He said the scenario is an unfortunate one and that Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle has given directive that available facility in the state capital be given to the authorities of NYSC for relocation and recommencement of the official activities of the scheme in Gusau.

The Deputy Governor, also congratulated the NYSC Director-General on his appointment, assuring him of the state’s collaboration and support when and where necessary for the immediate recommencement of the temporary NYSC orientation camp.

Speaking earlier, the NYSC Director-General Brigadier General M K Fadah said they were on a mission to have a look at the proposed temporary site and choose a befitting location to be approved by Zamfara State Government.

M K Fadah however noted that, with his visit and the promises of the State Government of continuous collaboration with the scheme, the necessary NYSC activities would recommence in the State with immediate effect.
