- World Cup Playoff: Super Eagles Touch Down Ghana
The Nigeria Super Eagles have touched down Kumasi in Ghana ahead of the first leg of the Qatar World Cup qualifiers, The Informant247 Nigeria News reports.
Aboard a chartered Air Peace aircraft, the Nigerian team left Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja in the morning on Thursday and landed in Kumasi Nigerian for the battle.
The Eagles players and officials will be staying at the Golden Tulip, the best hotel facility in Kumasi for the match.
Members of the team include William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Ajayi, Aina, Onyeka, Odion Ighalo, Daniel Akpeyi, Ahmed Musa, Oghenekaro Etebo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Abdullahi, Uzoho, Moses Simon, Dennis, Joe Aribo, Bassey, Bonke, Kenneth Omeruo, Sanusi, Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen, Amoo, Lookman Haruna and Sadiq Umar.
The 40,528 Baba Yara Stadium will host the crucial tie billed for 8:30pm Nigerian time.
Having gathered a lot of momentum with its #Jollof derby narrative, the match is expected to be a tough encounter giving the rivalry between the two sides.
Nigeria have played against Ghana more than any other country in the world in football, with a total of 57 senior matches between both countries in 71 years. Ghana have won 19 of those clashes with Nigeria winning 16, and 19 of the games ended in draw.
The return leg is scheduled for Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, March 29.
