- CAF Confirms Baba Yara Stadium As Venue For Ghana vs Nigeria’s Tie
Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the 40,000 capacity Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi as the venue to host the first leg of the FIFA 2022 World Cup play-off tie between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Black Stars of Ghana.
The approval is coming after a CAF Licensing Inspector visited the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Sunday to inspect the facility.
In a letter signed by CAF Development Officer, Raul Chipenda and sent to the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq. and copied to FIFA, CAF stated that;
“It had granted a one-match approval for the use of Baba Yara Sports Stadium (Kumasi) in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 African qualifiers playoff round match Ghana versus Nigeria
The Informant 247 Nigeria News gathered that Ghana will play Nigeria in the 1st leg on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 19:30GMT at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The return leg is billed for Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on March 29, 2022.
