It was all a one sided game on Monday as England defeated Iran 6-2 in the second game of the ongoing World Cup at the Khalifa International Stadium.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoreline for the three lions in the 35th minutes of the game before Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling’s strikes made sure England head in to the break with a commanding performance.
Saka, who hits his double in the second half would have the glory of the day shared with Iran’s Mehdi Taremi who also scored twice to deny the English team a cleansheet despite their impressive performance.
Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish also got themselves registered on the score sheet in a game that couldn’t escape the impact of VAR.
England’s second game in Group B will see them take on the United States at Al Bayt Stadium on Friday, while Iran face Wales at the Al Rayyan Stadium on the same day.
The Gareth Southgate’s boys are now standing in a pole position as they eye more glory in the campaign.
