Fire incident consumes property, stalls, worth millions at Jigawa Motor Park

The Jigawa state Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has confirmed an outbreak of fire, early morning Monday at Birniwa motor park, in Birniwa Local Government area of the state.

The NSCDC in the State has said that some stalls and property worth millions of Naira, were destroyed by the inferno.

The NSCDC spokesperson, CSC Adamu Shehu, informed newsmen that the fire incident broke out around 5:20 a.m., at front of the park and that six stalls were destroyed.

Adamu revealed that no human casualties were recorded during the inferno.

He said the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical surge.

“Today, at about 05:20hrs, at front building of Birniwa motor park, there was fire outbreak that damaged six market stalls belonging to six traders that included tea, grains, meat, yams and food sellers.

“The fire was suspected to be caused by electrical spark and it destroyed property worth millions of Naira,” Shehu said.

He narrated that the efforts of the NSCDC operatives situated in the area and community members extinguished the fire and prevent the fire outbreak from spreading beyond control.

The spokesperson also said, however, that investigation would be conducted to find out the main cause of the fire incident.
