The Cross River Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Tanko Ashang, has commended the three former staff of the ministry recently appointed judges in the state.
The commissioner who gave the commendation on Wednesday in Calabar, at a reception held by the ministry in honour of the judges appointed as High Court and Customary Court of Appeal judges, urged them to work harder to justify their elevation.
Ashang, described their appointments as historic as the ministry was able to produce three of the eight newly appointed judges in the state.
He expressed gratitude to them for their service to the ministry, saying that their elevation was a result of hard work.
“Although we are losing you, we are happy to release you to the state and country to continue your good works,’’ he said.
He urged law officers in the state to emulate the judges, adding that their elevation should serve as an encouragement to them to work harder in order to be recommended for higher assignments.
Responding on behalf of the celebrated judges, Justice Felix Ititim, thanked the attorney general and the ministry for the reception which he said was the “first of its kind.”
Ititim gave the assurance that he and his colleagues would be good ambassadors of the ministry of justice in carrying out their new assignments.
Those appointed High Court judges were Justices Emmanuel Odibu and Blessing Egwu, while Ititim was elevated to the position of Judge, Cross River Customary Court of Appeal. (NAN)
