Why we postpone presidential campaign rally in Kwara — APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed the reason for the postponement of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Shetima presidential campaign rally planned to take place in Ilorin to January 17, 2023.

This was revealed in a signed statement released by Mr Saadu Salahu for the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the campaign rally in Ilorin, the capital of the state, on Monday.

The ruling party said the presidential campaign rally was postponed in order to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari championed the campaign.

The Informant247 yesterday reported that the President was planning to travel out of the country to Nouakchott, the capital of Islamic Republic of Mauritania on Monday, January 16, 2023.

The Nigerian leader is to proceed to the African nation for two-day official engagements which would be concluded Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

The Abu Dhabi Peace Forum will honour the Nigerian President with an African Award for promoting peace.

Therefore, the APC said the president insisted that he would lead the presidential campaign rally in Kwara State.

“This is in order to allow President Muhammadu Buhari to lead the campaign.

The statement partly reads: “The President is scheduled for an international engagement outside the country this week beginning from tomorrow but insists he would like to personally lead the APC Presidential Rally in Kwara State.

“We deeply regret any inconveniences the postponement might have caused our guests and all APC stakeholders.”
