President Muhammadu Buhari has charged Nigerian citizens residing in Doha, Qatar, to extend their support to the government of the president-elect, Senator Bola Tinubu.
The Nigerian leader revealed that Nigerian citizens in foreign countries need to stand with the president elect for the country to continue to be the beacon of hope and success in the black continent, and to be worthy of emulation.
This was revealed by the presidential media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
He said the number one citizen of the country made this appeal at a town hall meeting when he visited the State of Qatar on Tuesday.
The president called on the citizens in foreign countries to “support the incoming government of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, so that Nigeria will continue to be the beacon of hope and prosperity in our continent and an example for other African countries to emulate.”
The Informant247 recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election.
According to INEC, Tinubu came victorious with 8.8 million votes.
The presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar came second with 6.9 million votes.
Tinubu is expected to officially resume office as president on May 29, 2023 after presidential inauguration.
