Erstwhile Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Umar Na’abba, has revealed that he is ready to throw his weight behind Igbo Presidency, if the region present a candidate with massive intellectual capability in the forthcoming 2023 Presidential election.
Na’abba made this revelation during his meeting with the National Political Equity Movement, NPEM, led by its convener, Chibuzor Okereke at his residence in Abuja on Tuesday. The former lawmaker charged the South East Geo-political zone to choose their best qualified candidates and field them for selection before the general election.
He, however, said that the South East is blessed with plethora of competent politicians who can successfully pilot the affairs of the country.
The statement read, “some of my best friends are from the southeast geo-political zone that are well endowed and readily available to support me anytime.
“In 1999, the Late Alex Ekwueme would have emerged our presidential candidate if not for the strong influence of the military because we believed in him.
“As of today, there’s an array of competent Igbo leaders in the mold of Senator Ken Nnamani, Pius Anyim, and several others from the South East that can conveniently run our political affairs.
“If they bring incompetent hands it may spoil their chance in 2023, if they bring good hands I will support the South East.”
