The All Progressives Congress APC has suspended Senator Ahmed Hassan Barata, the Director-General of the campaign of the party’s governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani from the party.
The Informant247 gathered that the DG was suspended by the executive leadership of the party in Ketembere Ward of Shelleng Local Government Area of the state.
The suspension of the former federal lawmaker was announced in a letter sent to him and copied the chairman of the party in Shelleng local government.
This came 3 weeks to the supplementary election in the state earlier announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
The supplementary election which is to discover the winner of the guber election between Binani and the Governor of the state and the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Ahmadu Fintiri is to take place on April 15.
In a letter released to newsmen on Friday March 31 in Yola, the capital of the state, the campaign DG was suspended over alleged anti-party activities.
He was alleged in the letter of keeping to himself the food items sent by the party’s governorship candidate to “party faithful” before the election.
The compromise to suspend the campaign DG was reached at a meeting of the ward executives which took place on March 27, 2023, in Ketembere.
The suspension letter partly reads: “With due regard to all relevant sections of article 21 of the All Progressives Congress constitution 2022 as amended which as well empowers the ward executive committee to take disciplinary measures against any erring members irrespective of his or her status, we the Exco members of this ward, therefore, have resolved in our 27 March 2023 meeting to suspend you.”
