‘We have lost a true friend,’ The Informant247 mourns Comrade Bolakale
The management and staff of The Informant247 mourn the passing of Comrade Abdulrasheed Bolakale Berkindo Soliu, fondly known as CB, who died on Tuesday after a brief illness.
CB was more than a supporter of The Informant247. He was a friend of the newsroom and one of the people who believed deeply in what we set out to build.
Over the years, he became a familiar presence around the newsroom, often engaging our editors and reporters in conversations about journalism, governance and the responsibility of the media to the public. He was genuinely interested in how we could use our platform to promote accountability, advocate good governance and contribute to meaningful conversations about the country.
He was also someone who was willing to engage critically with our work. CB could question a report, challenge an angle or offer a different perspective without allowing disagreement to affect his relationship with the newsroom. At the same time, he was generous in acknowledging good journalism, often commending our work both privately and publicly. That relationship meant a great deal to us.
Beyond the collective memories we share as a newsroom, everyone at The Informant247 has their own personal memories of CB. For some, it was a particular conversation, a phone call, a visit, a word of encouragement or simply one of the many moments in which his warmth and friendship came through. Those individual memories will remain part of how each of us remembers him.
CB was passionate about the causes he believed in and was deeply invested in the affairs of Kwara and Nigeria. His public engagement, including his participation in the Otoge movement, reflected a strong interest in governance and the direction of society.
His death is a loss to his family, friends, associates and the many people and causes he supported. For us at The Informant247, it is also the loss of a friend who stood by the newsroom, believed in its mission and consistently encouraged us to do more.
We will miss his presence, his conversations, his questions and his friendship.
We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds and grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
May Allah grant his family, friends and all those who mourn him the strength to bear his loss.
Goodbye, CB. From all of us at The Informant247, thank you for believing in us.
