He said, “We have two types of waste bin, but for now this is what we have. Believe you me, Ilorin metropolis deserves more than five standard waste bin to manage it’s waste. Due to crisis in the northern part of the country, a lot of people are moving to the central part of the country especially Ilorin which has caused population explosion because of the peaceful nature of the town. Part of what we need to manage the environmental refuse in Kwara State are waste bins and tipper trucks to evacuate the waste people dispose.

“Since yesternight, both the ministry and the environmental taskforce have been on their toes by cleaning the metropolis. As at Friday, this Agbo-Oba junction was clean, coming here on Sunday morning we met an hump of refuse here defacing our metropolis. This shows that waste management in Ilorin deserves a proactive measure to overcome this challenge. More importantly, the citizens need to show more concern in the way they dispose their refuse because of the health implications.
We have to sentisize our people about proper waste management and disposal.

He further admonished Kwarans not to dispose waste indiscriminately and they should imbibe the habits of cleaning their environment.

He said, “The government is not out to punish anybody, we are sentitizing our people for now. Proactive measures like fine and mobile court would come after that.

The environmental task force chairman, Hon. Razaq Jiddah said the sanitation exercise is continous and further urged Kwarans to cooperate with them to achieve the desired objective of keeping Kwara clean.

The sanitation exercise was monitored by members of the enviromental taskforce and some delegates from the ministry of environment.
