It was all a goalless draw on Friday night in the first leg of the World Cup qualifiers match between Black Stars of Ghana and Super Eagles of Nigeria, reports.

A game with its own narratives and history, it was an apparent battle of tactics as both teams played out the encounter with all cautions.

Majorly, the Nigerian team would have their goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho thanked as he came into the party with brilliant saves in the halves of the game.

While Ghana had a tough time breaking the wall of defense put up in Ekong and Balogun, the Eagles also failed to convert some of their chances-making it a balanced game.

The closest of the chance was when Iheanacho found Moses Simon in the 55th minute at the left edge of the box. The Nantes forward would eventually had the Ghana goalkeeper pushing the ball away.

A few moments later, Nigerians thought it would be their day in when a Ghanian defender caught with a handball after the charge from Etebo and Iheanacho- the arbiter would eventually rule out his decision of the spot-kick after consulting the pitchside monitor.

All square was the approach as both gaffers exhausted their reserves in the search for the ultimate prize.

The result left much to be desired for in the second leg billed for Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday even as Super Eagles go into the encounter with an advantage of playing a goalless draw away from home.
