Validate your claim with KWSRRA if you’re yet to receive Nov salary – Kwara govt tells workers

…says 97% of workers already got November salary

The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Finance, has said that 97% of the state government’s workers, consisting of 18,466, have received their November salary and bonus.

Dr Hauwa Nuru, the state Commissioner for Finance Commissioner, in a statement on Tuesday, said the outstanding 4.5% who have yet to receive their salary are those who have not been registered with KWSRRA as directed by the government since July 2024, or those with other pending issues, adding that 97% of the SUBEB teachers and employees have received their salary for the month, while the pending 3% are those without KWSRRA bonafide.

She said, “For the Local Government Areas, 77% of the workforce has been paid, while 23% remaining are those who have not complied with the KWSRRA requirements.”

“These figures — of the state, SUBEB, and local government areas — contradict the claim that 75% or 45% of the workforce have not been paid.

“We had earlier engaged with representatives of the NLC, where we provided clear data on how things stood. We also explained how those who have not got theirs can go about it if they are truly bonafide workers.”

The statement added that any genuine employee yet to get their November salary should validate their claims with KWSRRA and the Ministry of Finance.

“The exercise to register every resident in the state for accurate data, security purpose, and sanitization of the payroll system is an endeavor that every citizen should support. We assure workers that the administration remains committed to prompt payment of their salary and welfare, as has been the hallmark of the government,” the statement added.

“The government is committed to resolving all outstanding issues so that no bonafide worker is left unpaid. We urge our compatriots in the labour unions to fully support this transparency initiative, which is meant to serve the interest of everyone.”

Back story

The Kwara State Government, on November 11, 2024, announced that public sector employees without a valid Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA) number will not receive their November 2024 salary or bonuses.

This decision follows months of ongoing efforts to ensure that every worker completes their KWSRRA registration.

KWSRRA, established by law, is responsible for collecting data on all residents in Kwara State and issuing unique identification numbers to each person.

This system, according to the Kwara State government is designed to improve planning, resource management, public service delivery, and security across the state.

Meanwhile, on November 12, a 2-day mop-up registration was scheduled for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Education Authority(LGEA) staff and other civil servants who failed to partake in the last residents registration organised by the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency.
