Following the release of the 2020 Seasonal Rainfall Prediction by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency, the Kwara state government has warned residents living in flood-prone areas to relocate to other parts of the state.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Funke Julianah Oyedun cautioned residents to desist from indiscriminate waste disposal to allow free flow of water in drainages which helps in curbing flood.
She assured residents that the Kwara State Governments is making strategic plans to minimize any flood disaster which may occur as a result of the current heavy downpour to avoid any loss of life or properties.
She urged Kwara residents to be conscious of their environmental health even as flood prediction comes,stressing that the welfare and well being of the people is paramount always and that the Government shall do everything possible for the progress as well as improve the good living conditions of the people.
