UNILORIN law students honour Hakeem Lawal

The Unilorin Law Students’ Society has honoured a financial expert and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal with its “2019 Fresher’s Week” which is scheduled to hold from the 16th day of December to the 20th day of December, 2019.

The fresher’s week which would feature events that includes a quiz competition, an oratory contest with the topic, “The Proposed Social Media Bill: A Curb On Hate Speech or Tackle on Freedom of Expression”, orientation program, sports, picnic, and an excursion to the Emir’s palace, Ilorin.

When contacted for comment, the General Secretary of the association, Abdulsalam Abdulazeez Oluwadamilare said, “We have deemed it fit to honor him for the fact that he has contributed immensely to the development of humanity.

He continued: “He is always ready to serve his people at the point of need, he is a replica of his father, Muhammed Alabi Lawal who also served his people till the point of death. Indeed, he took after his father and as such, the entire family of the late Muhammed Alabi Lawal deserves the honour.

“Apparently, one of his agenda during the campaign was “Human Capital Development”, and we believe Education falls as part of human capital development. This has triggered us to honour him for his lucrative and productive intent in building and enhancing human capacity.”
