The Kwara State House of Assembly has resolved that the state government should direct Harmony Holdings Limited to terminate the lease agreement on the Tourist Kitchen, Bubbles 007 with immediate effect.
The Assembly made the call yesterday, considering the report of Hon. Ayokunle Awolola led committee on Youth, Sport, Culture, Tourism and Information on the Investigation of True Ownership of Bubble 007, Ilorin.
The committee observed that the Harmony Holdings Limited claims that the first agreement with Zest Management was skewed against the interest the state and manner as well as circumstances the lease changed to Island Trading Nigeria Limited led to the termination of the first lease agreement.
The committee furtherly observed the new lease agreement tenor has been reduced from 25 years to 15 years, hammering that it doubts if the rent took congnisance of the highbrow location of the property.
While reading the resolution of the house, the Speaker, Hon Yakubu Danladi Salihu stressed on the need to terminate the lease agreement.
Speaker said that it became feasible in the interest of the people of the state and assured that the Hon. Saheed Popoola led ad-hoc committee would thoroughly investigate the activities of Hermony Holding in respect of government owned properties.
