In a devastating incident, the pastor of Dunamis Church in Mission Ward North Bank, Makurdi, Benue State, lost his life on Monday when the church building collapsed.
An eyewitness reported that four others, who were praying with the pastor at the time, sustained injuries of varying degrees as the building crumbled around them.
Nath, an eyewitness, recounted the incident: “As soon as we heard the collapse of the building, we rushed to the place to rescue them. It took some minutes before we could free the victims. Sadly, four people were injured, and the pastor was found dead.”
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Bartholomew Onyeka, confirmed the tragic event, stating, “Something like that happened; just one person died in the process. You know when debris falls on people like that, the immediate concern is for the victims. People who rushed there were able to rescue four people; unfortunately, one person died. The injured individuals are responding to treatment in a hospital where they were taken.”
