Tinubu’s 2027 votes in North Central will come from different groups, not only APC – Gov Sule

…says APC faces major challenges in Kwara, 2 other states

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has identified internal disagreements within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as one of the major challenges confronting the party in Kwara, Benue and Nasarawa states ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sule also said President Bola Tinubu would receive votes from different categories of voters in 2027, not only APC members.

Speaking at a meeting of the North Central Grassroots Mobilization Network in Abuja, Sule said while there was broad support for Tinubu within the APC, disagreements over candidates for other elective positions could affect the party’s ability to maximise its votes for the president.

The meeting was attended by the APC national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda; the SGF, Senator George Akume; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; former Kogi State governor, Idris Wada; former Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong; deputy governor of Plateau State; national coordinator of the North Central Grassroots Mobilization Network, Arch. Sonny ST. Echono and other stakeholders from the region.

He said some voters could support Tinubu because of their personal support for him, while others would vote for him based on their assessment of his performance or because their preferred candidates were backing his presidential bid.

“But believe it or not, there are people who will vote for the president because their candidate is saying we are going to vote for the president,” Sule said.

He urged APC leaders and members involved in the disagreements in Kwara, Benue and Nasarawa to handle the issues with maturity and avoid public statements that could further hurt the party.
