Kwara state Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Sa’adatu Modibo Kawu, on Monday, confirmed that there was misappropriation of funds in the state owned Kwara Polytechnic.
The commissioner disclosed this after receiving a two-volume report of Dr. fatai Bello- led visitation panel on behalf of the State Government at her office in Ilorin, the state capital.
Kawu, who commended members of the panel for their selfless effort in offering recommendations that would reposition the institution positively, pointed out that she has received the Ministry’s Committee report on allegation of corruption levied by some staff of the Institution.
She, however, assured that AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration would not tolerate any act of mismanagement of the institution.
“The Ministry has investigated and spoken with all the parties concerned and can confirm that truly there was misappropriation of funds in Kwara Polytechnic despite the meager resources available for the institution,” the Commissioner stated.
For his part, the Chairman of the panel, Dr. Fatai Bello lauded the stare governor for his effort toward ensuring reposition of the institution.
