Franklin Akinyosuyi, a 26-year-old man suspected of being involved in internet fraud, was apprehended by the police in Ondo State after being found with a human skull and various fetish items.
During his public appearance before journalists in Akure, he attributed his actions to the challenging economic conditions and financial difficulties prevalent in the country.
Akinyosuyi disclosed that he had contemplated resorting to rituals to enhance his business prospects in response to the economic crunch.
He admitted that he had intended to use the human skull and other items to boost his photography and boutique business.
However, his plans were thwarted when the landlord’s children discovered the human skull hidden in a black polythene bag on the premises where he lived.
While speaking to the media during his parade by the police, Akinyosuyi revealed that he had engaged the services of a native doctor, following his uncle’s advice, to conduct rituals that would attract more customers and increase sales for his business.
He claimed to have paid N200,000 for the concoction and received instructions to bathe with the human skull every Thursday at 1 am.
After a month of practicing these rituals without seeing any improvements in his business, Akinyosuyi requested a refund from the native doctor.
When his request was refused and he received no response, he discarded the human skull in his backyard.
Unfortunately, the landlord’s children discovered the item and alerted their father, who in turn informed the police.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed that the investigation led to the arrest of another individual, Dare Oyegoke, who claimed to be an evangelist.
Oyegoke allegedly admitted to providing the human skull and fetish items to a native doctor named Sarafa Oyelade.
Oyelade confessed to obtaining the human skull from a local vigilante named Asekun in Ikirun, Osun State.
