Some suspended Local Government chairmen have vowed to appeal Friday’s judgement of an High Court, sitting in Ilorin, that upheld the suspension of the council chairs, declaring the House of Assembly has the constitutional power to recommend their suspension.
Justice Hammed Gegele who presided over the matter also held that the chairmen lack the constitutional power to institute any legal action against the government.
The chairman of Ekiti local government, Comrade Yinka Dallas in reaction to the court verdict, however, said they would appeal the judgement.
“We wish to state that we will not relent in seeking justice on the illegal suspension. We shall stick by the initial judgement and seek redress on this,” he said.
Recalled that the 16 local government council bosses in the state were suspended by the Kwara state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq acting on a recommendation by the House of Assembly over the allegation of missappriopration of N33 billion accrued to the council.
