Suspected cultists kill construction staff in Bayelsa

Gunmen who were suspected to be cultists have kidnapped a construction worker, whose name was simply given as Wale.

The hoodlums killed the victim and dumped his dead body along the Gloryland Drive Expressway in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.

Sources who witnessed the scenario revealed that the gunmen ambushed the victim on Friday night around his house along school road, Akenpai axis of Yenagoa as he was coming back from work.

He was then directed by the kidnappers to use his car to drive them to an unexplained destination.

His neighbours disclosed to newsmen that his dead body was recovered on Saturday, and the deceased victim was suspected to have died from a gunshot.

The tragic incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the state police, SP Asinim Butswat.

Butswat said the incident was cult-related, adding that the police has launched an investigation into murder of the victim.

He explained that the victim has been confirmed as Wale while his surname has not been given at the time of filing this report.

He said his remains has been moved to the mortuary for autopsy.
