Sixty students across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State have qualified for the grand finale of the first Kwara State Inter Secondary School Quiz Competition organized by a Non Governmental Organization, Saliu Mustapha Foundation.
The examination which was held simultaneously in Queen Elizabeth school, Ilorin, Kwara Central, Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, Iludun Oro, Kwara South, and Government Secondary School Bode Saadu, Kwara North attracted one hundred and twenty secondary school students that participated in the preliminary stage of the competition.
A statement issued from the media office of Saliu Mustapha Foundation, said sixty schools participated in the English and Mathematics Quiz competition, while sixty students qualified for the grand finale of the competition billed for fourth of August, this year at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin.
The statement added that the three best students were expected to emerge as winners in the grand finale of the competition, with special gifts to be awarded to students that come first, second and third respectively, while the teachers that trained the students would also be rewarded for their services.
The statement signed by the Coordinator of the Foundation, Mallam Lanre Sulyman, appreciated all the schools that participated in the preliminary stage of the competition as well as the students for studying hard and demonstrating good moral conduct during and after the competition.
It commended the State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development for assigning its officials to conduct the examination and Nigeria Union of Teachers for its support.
The statement therefore charged all the qualified students for the grand finale to study well for them to emerge victorious, assuring that the Foundation would continue to recognise and support the education drive of the state government.
