Six die in fiery auto crash in Adamawa state

Six people, including members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have been burnt to death in a fatal road crash along the Narehi area on the Girei–Song axis of Adamawa State.

According to the spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, the accident occurred on Wednesday and involved a military gun truck travelling from Gombi to Yola and a commercial Hummer bus heading from Yola to Mubi.

Preliminary reports indicate that the two vehicles collided head-on, causing the commercial bus to overturn and immediately go up in flames.

“All five passengers in the bus were burnt to death after the vehicle caught fire following the impact,” Nguroje stated.

Four of the deceased have been identified as members of the NYSC serving in Adamawa State. They include Suleiman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu, both natives of Kaduna State, while efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining victims.

One soldier attached to the military vehicle also died in the crash.

The remains of the victims have been deposited at the Specialist Hospital in Yola as authorities work to confirm the identities of all those involved and notify their families.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the NYSC, describing the incident as tragic.
