‘Silence is no longer golden’: Kwara APC elders oppose Gov AbdulRazaq’s governorship choice

The Kwara State APC Elders Caucus has broken its silence over the purported emergence of Speaker Salihu Yakubu Danladi as governorship candidate, saying the future of the party is at stake.

Speaking at a press conference in Ilorin on Monday, the elders said they could no longer remain quiet while developments they consider harmful to the party continue unchecked.

The caucus described itself as the conscience of the APC in Kwara State, noting that its members had spent years defending and building the party.

“There comes a time when silence is no longer golden,” the group declared.

The elders said they had carefully reviewed events following the governorship primary and consulted stakeholders across the state before arriving at their position.

According to the caucus, its concerns are patriotic, strategic and focused on preserving the future of the ruling party.

The group insisted that it harbours no personal resentment toward Danladi but does not consider him the strongest option available to the APC.

It appealed to the national leadership of the party to listen to internal counsel and reconsider decisions affecting the future of the APC in Kwara State.

The elders reaffirmed their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and pledged continued support for his administration while urging party leaders to act in the broader interest of the APC.
