Kashim Shettima, the Nigerian Vice President, is currently presiding over the 137th meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Informant247 gathered that the council has governors of the 36 states of the federation, a Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a Minister of Finance, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and some others as members.
In attendance at the fourth NEC meeting under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration are all governors except those of Akwa Ibom, Kano, Lagos, Enugu, Osun, Borno, Nasarawa and Adamawa states who their deputies represent.
However, neither Governor Godwin Obaseki nor his deputy, Philip Shaibu, was present as the seat designated for the state remained vacant after the meeting, which is likely to be the last for 2023, commenced.
