Scaffolder dragged to court for allegedly stealing electrical cables
A scaffolder, Ukasha Ibrahim, was on Wednesday brought before an Abuja Court, Karu over alleged theft of 18 rolls of different sizes of electrical cables valued N432,000.
The 18-year-old Ibrahim residing in Aso Pada Nasarawa state, was charged by the police with theft and house breaking.
Mr Ade Adeyanju, who’s the Prosecution Counsel informed the court that in October, the defendant unlawfully invaded the store room situated in Aso Pada, Nasarawa state and took away 18 rolls of electrical cables valued N432, 000.
when the matter was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
He also added that the offence was a violation of sections 353 and 288 of the Penal Code.
Ana’s Mohammed who presided over the matter granted the defendant N500,000 bail plus a ‘reasonable’ surety.
Mohammed directed that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court, with the address subjected to the verification of the court registrar, while the surety must also make provision for national identification card which would be kept in the court.
He has adjourned the matter until December 5 for further hearing.
