The Civil Society Legislative and Advocacy Centre, CISLAC in connection with Centre for Women and Adolescent Empowerment and MacArthur Foundation, has planned a one-day training for law enforcement agents in Migeria ahead of the 2023 general elections.
During the course of the training which took place in Yola, the Executive Director of the CISLAC, Comrade Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, revealed that the training was organized to educate law enforcement agents on how to display greater level of integrity and ethics and to ensure they are to effectively maintain law and order during the forthcoming elections.
He said that the event was set up with the aim of ensuring that law enforcement agents play a very significant role in the forthcoming elections, stressing that they will help INEC in fostering a free and fair election.
While expressing her view, Yola Ms Asma’u Joda, the Executive Director, Centre for Women and Adolescent Empowerment, who was stood in for by Tijjjani Ubandoma, encouraged the Law Enforcement personnel to perform their responbilities effectively and foster a free and fair election in the forthcoming 2023.
She also said that the law enforcement personnel has sent message of warning to political actors to stay away from use of thugs for violence and electoral misconducts during the elections.
Law enforcement personnel that marked their presence at the training were selected from the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency and Nigerian Immigration Service.
