Ronaldo scores winner against Everton, hits 700th career goal

 

Cristiano Ronaldo has hit another landmark in his illustrious career by scoring his 700th club goal as Manchester United defeated Everton 2-1 on Sunday.

The goal, which was the winner against the Tofees took the Portugal forward’s tally to 144 for United in his two spells at the Old Trafford.
He scored 450 for Real Madrid, 101 for Juventus and five for Sporting Lisbon.

While it was his second goal of the season, the victory against the Frank Lampard’s led side handed the Manchester United a respite after their 6-3 loss to Manchester City in their last EPL game.

Even while the 37-year-old started the Everton’s game on the bench, he came on for the injured Anthony Martial in the 29th minute and scored what proved to be the winner 15 minutes later as United went 2-1 up to drown the hosts.

Ronaldo is also the all-time top scorer in the Champions League with 140 goals – 13 more than Lionel Messi.

His strike also extended his advantage over Messi in total club goals scored, with the Argentina forward on 691 for Paris St-Germain and Barcelona.
