The people in Uvwie and Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, on Friday, occupied the street to stage a protest against scarcity of new naira notes.
This came a few hours after some youths took to the streets of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State to register their displeasure over fuel crisis and scarcity of the new naira notes.
The Warri-Sapele Road and NPA Expressway got blocked by scores of market women.
The angry demonstrators also laid siege to the United Bank for Africa and Union Bank situated very close to Main Market, Warri.
Traders who were holding leaves and placards in their hands complained about their inability to trade.
They burnt tyres as part of demonstration.
They lamented “our fish dey spoil o”, our foods dey rotten” as the they continued with their protest.
The security agents around could be seen pacifying them to take things easy but they said they needed to be given their money already deposited in banks.
One of the traders while reacting to the state of the nation, said: “Our children are hungry, we cannot sell, we cannot do transfer, we cannot withdraw our money. I stayed in shop throughout yesterday and sold nothing. People who want to buy things tried to transfer money but could not,” she said.

This came 22 days to the country’s 2023 general elections.

The youths who were also dissatisfied with the state of the nation, in their numbers occupied the streets of Iwo Road area of the state with several placards, to show their displeasure.
