Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has suspended his campaign over fuel crisis and scarcity of new naira notes.
He made this revelation while flagging off the Omi-Adio-Ido Road on Friday.
He said the suspension of the campaign was to solidarize with the citizens over what he described as anti-people policies of the All Progressives Congress, APC government.
This was revealed in a statement released by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun.
He revealed that the governor who was in Ido to further his campaign, ordered the suspension of the campaign activities until further notice.
He said the Governor lamented the inconvenience and suffering of the people.
He also said he’s in power to defend their interests and welfare of the people of the state.
Dr. Olatubosun said the Governor has ordered the leaders of the Party in Oyo State to suspend the electioneering campaign.
According to the statement: ”As a mark of honour to citizens and residents of Oyo State, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has direct that all campaign activities of the party at all levels be suspended until further notice”, the statement read.
He added, “Governor Seyi Makinde’s love for his people necessitated this unprecedented move, at this time. We urge all residents and citizens of the State to remain calm as we navigate through this difficult period together.”
