Report early suspected case of tuberculosis to prevent viral infection – Kwara govt tells residents
The Kwara State Government has called on tge residents of tge state especially those inOke Ero Local Government Area to be vigilant and report individuals showing symptoms of Tuberculosis (TB), to the nearest government hospital to prevent viral infection.
Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, the Commissioner for Health, made the call during the investiture ceremony of the Oke Ero Local Government Tuberculosis Ambassador, held at the Headquarters in Ilofa.
El-Imam said that an approach being taken by the state government was aimed at curbing the spread of the disease and ensuring early detection and treatment to avoid spreading airborne disease.
She further emphasized the importance of utilizing government healthcare interventions, including medical outreaches, immunization programs, and visits to public health facilities, to protect the community from contacting TB and other infectious diseases.
She urged residents to support the campaign by spreading the awareness and ensure that anyone showing symptoms of the ailment like persistent cough, weight loss, night sweats and fever seek immediate medical attention, at the nearest government approved facilities.
El-Imam, while commending Local Government the Councils and traditional rulers for their continued role as health advocates, reaffirmed the commitment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to making quality healthcare services accessible to all residents.
She also urged them to remain proactive in the fight against TB.
