Morroco Head Coach, Walid Regragui is hoping that Christiano Ronaldo is not featured in their quarter final clash against Portugal.
The Atlas Lions are poised to make history as the first African team to cross the quarter final stage of the World Cup.
Ronaldo was left on the bench in Portugal last 16 clash against Switzerland which they won convincingly 6-1 where Goncalo Ramos who replaced him scored a stunning hat-trick in the game.
While the Portugal’s Coach Santos might be keen to keep to the same squad, Walid is also hoping that the line up doesn’t have Ronaldo.
“I don’t know if Ronaldo will start. I hope he won’t,” Regragui said. “As a coach, I know he’s one of the best players in history. I’d be delighted if he didn’t play”
“But we’re not going to focus on Portugal. They’re hungry, they also want to get into the history books.
“We’re going to have more supporters in the stadium, and we can do it.”
Morroco defeated Spain on penalties in the round of 16 and will face off with the Portuguese
