Presidents of Nicaragua, Cuba felicitate Tinubu on election victory

The president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel and Nicaragua President, Daniel Ortega, have sent congratulatory wishes to the president elect Senator Bola Tinubu over his victory at the February 25 presidential polls.

Tunde Rahman the media aide to the president elect in a statement released on Saturday April 1 said the congratulatory messages of the two presidents were sent in separate letters.

Rahman said the Cuban president described the president elect’s victory as “a reaffirmation of the will to continue to strengthen the historic relations of friendship between the two countries”.

While the congratulatory message signed by President Ortega and his vice, Rosario’s Murillo, conveyed best wishes to Nigeria.

“Our best wishes for peace and prosperity of Nigeria, while reiterating our unwavering commitment to continue strengthening the fraternal bonds of solidarity and brotherhood that unite our peoples and governments,” they said.

Also, the Developing Eight Organisations for Economic Cooperation (D8), has congratulated the president elect, saying it’s ready to work with his government.

The D8 secretary general, Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam said: “Nigeria is a staunch member of the D8 Organisation. The country graciously hosts the D8 Health and Social Protection (D-8 HSP) in Abuja and is on track to host the D8 Centre for Small and Medium Enterprises.”

“Nigeria is also preparing to host the first D8 Private Sector-driven Energy Forum in Lagos in mid-2023.

“We look forward to working with your administration to realise the aims and objectives of our organisation.”
