Presidency slams ADC coalition, describes it as a ‘hollow alliance’

The Presidency has sharply criticized the newly-formed opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as a “hollow alliance” comprised of disgruntled politicians.

In a statement released by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, the coalition’s formation was dismissed as a desperate and self-serving attempt to reclaim political power.

Dare emphasized that the figures backing the ADC are motivated by personal ambition and bitterness toward President Bola Tinubu, rather than any genuine ideological commitment or national interest.

“These political ‘desperados’ are not driven by principles,” Dare stated, adding, “Their only bond is animosity toward President Tinubu.”

He pointed out that many individuals now joining the ADC had distanced themselves from the All Progressives Congress (APC) long before the recent elections.

“Rotimi Amaechi’s soul left the APC in 2022 after he lost the presidential primary to President Tinubu,” Dare noted, highlighting the detachment of former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, particularly after his unsuccessful bid for governorship.

He further mentioned Hadi Sirika, a former Aviation Minister currently facing trial for allegations of misconduct, and Rauf Aregbesola, who was expelled from the APC for anti-party activities.

Dare argued that the ADC lacks the necessary structure and substance to pose a serious challenge, insisting that “a political party built on shared resentment cannot move Nigeria forward.”

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, warning that the coalition is nothing more than a fragile platform likely to collapse under the weight of its members’ conflicting ambitions.

“This coalition of convenience will only serve to set our country back by decades,” he concluded, describing it as a gathering of the politically displaced seeking relevance at any cost.
