ILORIN, Nigeria (The Informant247) – At least 2 kidnappers were on Monday killed with scores sustaining various degrees of gunshot injuries after security operatives raid their den in Nigeria’s Kwara state, police said on Tuesday.
“The kidnappers were accosted in the bush while sharing the ransom collected from the family of the victims, they opened fire on the operatives immediately they were sighted by the kidnappers,” state police spokesperson Ajayi Okasanmi said in a statement.
“During exchange of fire, two of the kidnappers that suffered gunshot injuries during the encounter were arrested and taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital where they were confirmed dead.”
He said that effort is still ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.
He added that the two abducted victims were rescued and reunited with their family after being certified medically stable.
