Police arrest man for kidnapping, strangling six-year-old to death in Adamawa

A 29-year-old man, Abubakar Kawu has been arrested by the operatives of the Adamawa Police Command for allegedly kidnapping a six year old boy and strangled him to death.

According to SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Adamawa Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement said the suspect, Kawu, a dry cleaner had on May 12, 2023, kidnapped his victim, Abdulhafiz Buba Aliyu and demanded a ransom of N3.5 million from the boy’s father.

It was learned that the child’s father, Muhammed Buba Aliyu, was reported to have begged to pay N50,000, which was all he could afford but the suspect became provoked by the little amount, which resulted to strangling the boy to death.

The PPRO said security operatives arrested Kawu a few days after, adding that the suspect confessed to killing the boy

The Police, however, appealed to parents to always monitor their wards, while vowing that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.
