In response to the brutal killing and beheading of Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Bako Angbashim, the Rivers State Police Command has taken decisive action by deploying a substantial force to Ahoada in a bid to apprehend the perpetrators.
Commissioner of Police Nwonyi Emeka led the law enforcement team, which arrived in the community early this morning, setting a clear example for officers through a motivational parade.
The shocking incident occurred when cultists ambushed and killed SP Bako in a forest within Odumude Community, located in the Ahoada East Local Government Area. This area has a notorious reputation for cult-related activities, and the DPO’s death has heightened tensions in nearby communities, including Odumude, Odumereni, Odemusoma, Ihugbogo, Odieke, and others.
Efforts to contact Barrister Ben Eke, the Local Government Chairman and Chief Security Officer of Ahoada East LGA, were unsuccessful, leaving the community grappling with unease.
However, Commissioner of Police Emeka personally led a substantial show of force into the area to motivate and boost the morale of officers and personnel at the Ahoada Police Division. During his visit, he emphasized the importance of confidence and dedication in the fight against crime.
Emeka also announced that the police command would soon conduct a planned show of force to target criminal hideouts in the region.
He unequivocally vowed to ensure justice is served for the brave and award-winning SP Bako, whose life was tragically cut short.
