Police arrest woman for allegedly kidnapping 13-yr-old girl in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a woman, Mariam Ayila, 27 over alleged kidnap of a 13-year-old girl, Sofiat Yusau.
She was arrested after being reported at Agbara divisional headquarters by one Ismail Yusau.
Ismail said he sent his daughter on an errand to the market around 11am and received a call some hours later from a strange person.
The unknown person said his daughter has been abducted, and he needed to pay the sum of N250,000 to secure the release of his daughter.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the DPO Agbara division, CSP Abiodun Salau, mobilized his officers who traced and arrested the suspected kidnapper and secured the freedom of the little girl unhurt.
The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, has confirmed the development.
The mouthpiece of the police Command said the suspected kidnapper earlier abducted the young girl at Itele Ota area on the 19th of December 2022, and ransom paid to her before she set her victim free.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered that the suspected kidnapper should be handed over to the Anti kidnapping unit of the state Criminal Investigation Departments for necessary investigation and prosecution.
