A 17-year old Adeleye Iyanu, on Friday appeared before an Ekiti Court for alleged breach of peace, stealing.
Iyanu, whose address of residence was not disclosed, is currently facing trial ( a two-count charge) of breach of peace and stealing.
Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, who’s the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant carried out the offence on November 2 around 13:00hrs at No. 43 Agric Road in Ado-Ekiti.
Adeniyi made an allegation that the defendant illegally took knickers and a shirt worth N27,000 and which belonged to one Adubu Kolawole.
He also established an allegation that the defendant behaved in a way that could cause breach of peace.
He added that the offences were in violation of the Sections 302 and 181(d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
He persuaded the court to adjourn the matter to make him to look into the case file and gather his witnesses.
When the matter was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The defendant’s Counsel, Mrs Aduni Olanipekun, implored the court to admit her client bail and made a promise that the defendant would not violate the bail.
Mrs Franca Olaiya, who’s the Chief Magistrate, admitted him bail in the sum of N20,000 plus one surety in like sum.
She has adjourned the matter until November 24 for hearing.
