NFF President to inaugurate Interim Management Committee For Nigeria League on Friday
President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau will on Friday inaugurate the Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as composed by the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a press statement announcing the composition of the IMC, the Youth and Sports Development Ministry stated that the move was “in line with the 10-year Football Masterplan as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari towards the revitalization of the Domestic League” and that the IMC would be in place to “oversee the affairs of the League until a proper professional League Board is put in place statutorily.”
Chairman for the IMC is the former Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon.Gbenga Elegbeleye with the vice chairman being the astute football administrator and Chairman of Akwa United; Elder Paul Bassey.
While the Head of Operation is Prince Davidson Owumi, the Secretary of the committee is Mr. Olumide Bamiduro.
Among other members of the committee are Hon. Kunle Soname; Chairman of Remo Stars, ex-international; Mr. Daniel Amokachi, Mr Calvin Emeka Onwuka, Mallam Aliyu Adamu and Barr. Danladi Ibrahim
Others include Mohammed Nasiru Sa’idu, Barr. Poubeni Ogun, Awalu Baba Jada, a representative each from the NFF and Nigeria Police Force.
A court had in September declared the former body managing the league, League Management Company (LMC) illegal.
