Plateau United has once again failed to reach the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup following a 3-0 defeat to Al Akhdar in the second leg of their play-off round game played in Libya on Wednesday.
The Nigeria team had earlier won the first leg in Abuja 4-1 a week ago but were condemned to a defeat which handed the Libyan side an opportunity to progress to the group stage with 4-4 on aggregate.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu side held the home side to a goalless draw in the first half but lost their grip on the match after the break and went on to concede three goals in the last quarter of the game.
Recall that Plateau United had earlier drop to the Confederation Cup after losing to Esperance de Tunis (2-2 aggregate) in their last round game in the Champions League.
They will now shift attention back to the Nigeria Professional football league which is yet to have a kick off date.
