Pitch Encroachment: Kwara United fined N1 million, to play next home game behind doors
The League Management Company (LMC) has fined Kwara United a total amount of N1 million naira for encroaching onto the field of play during their last home match against Rivers United.
Recall that Kwara United recorded a 2-1 hard fought victory over the ‘Pride of Rivers’ in the NPFL matchday 26 played last Sunday at the Kwara State Stadium Complex.
The sanctions are reportedly coming after the brawl between the fans of Kwara United and the officials of the visiting side.
In addition to the fine, the Harmony boys will play their next home match against Shooting Stars SC behind closed doors without their fans.
The statement from LMC also noted that failure by Kwara United to uphold the tenets of fair play might lead to more stiffer sanctions as prescribed under the league framework and rules.
Meanwhile, Kwara United have Seven working days to pay all fines and elect to appeal the sanctions.
The Harmony Boys, currently 6th on the log with 40 points will be on the road for their next game against Kano Pillars.
