Two individuals have been burnt beyond identification in an explosion of petrol tanker which happened in Ogun State on Thursday.
The Informant247 gathered that 12 vehicles also caught fire in the incident that which occurred at Sango-Ota Old Toll Gate Plaza, along the Lagos-Abeokuta road.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has established that the development happened on Thursday, as three individuals were left with burns.
Florence Okpe, the spokesperson of the FRSC in Ogun state, informed newsmen that the petrol tanker was coming down from the Ilo Awele slope, when it collapsed around 1:30am, spilled its substances and caught fire.
“Men of the fire service were contacted immediately and the area was cordoned-off to prevent a secondary crash,” Okpe said.
She further said that as at 4:05am in the morning, “a total of 12 vehicles were involved, which comprised three luxury buses, four tricycles, three motorcycles, one yellow bus and a tanker.”
The mouthpiece of the FRSC further said that, “A total of three persons were rescued to Ota General Hospital (two male adults and one female adult), seriously burnt.
“Two bodies burnt beyond recognition have been evacuated from the scene.
“The suspected cause of the multiple crash was mechanical deficiency. While ascending, the vehicle rolled back and got hooked. The content spilled off and there was fire outbreak.”
