Pensioners experiencing salary delay are those without KWSRRA enrolment, says Kwara govt
The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed the importance of the ongoing registration exercise with the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA) for all pensioners and employees at the State and Local Government levels.
The government, while reacting to the inability of some pensioners to receive their March pension, disclosed that KWSRRA registration is vital to maintain the prompt and uninterrupted payment of monthly pensions and salaries.
A statement from the Ministry of Finance maintained that the recent data indicates that only about 56% of Local Government pensioners have completed their KWSRRA registration and received their payments. In contrast, all duly registered State pensioners have been paid up to April 2025. This disparity underscores the necessity for all pensioners to complete their registration promptly to avoid disruptions in their payment schedules.
Dr. Hauwa Nuru, the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, emphasized, “The KWSRRA registration is not merely a bureaucratic process; it is a fundamental requirement to verify and validate the identities of our pensioners and employees. This exercise ensures the integrity of our payroll system, facilitates accurate planning, and upholds our commitment to transparency and accountability.”
“Pensioners and employees are encouraged to complete their registration at the KWSRRA office in Ilorin or at the headquarters of their respective Local Government Areas, where KWSRRA desks have been established to assist with the process.”
The statement concluded by reassuring the welfarism of its retirees and workforce while also ensuring that all eligible individuals are registered with KWSRRA is essential to continue the seamless disbursement of pensions and salaries.
