PDP crisis: Yes, Atiku can do without me in other states, not in Rivers – Wike replies critics

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has told the presidential candidate of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, that he (Atiku) can do without him (Wike) in the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.

The Informant247 observes that there has been a crisis in the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ever since the conclusion of the party’s presidential primary.

The Informant247 recalls that Atiku won as the presidential candidate of the opposition party for the 2023 election, having gathered a total of 371 votes to conquer his closest contender, Wike, who polled 237 votes.

Atiku Abubakar – 371 votes

Nyesom Wike- 237 votes

Bukola Saraki – 70 votes

Udom Emmanuel – 38 votes

Balla Mohammed – 20 votes

Pius Anyim – 14 votes

Sam Ohabunwa – 1 vote; and

Olivia Tariela – 1 vote

12 void votes.

The Informant247 had also reported that the political team of the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has reportedly dismembered themselves from the campaign Council of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the manner Wike and some chieftains of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) pulled out of the 2023 campaign.

The former vice president also reacted to the manner the aggrieved camp of the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, insisted that the National Chairman of the main opposition party, Iyorchia Ayu, should leave the position.

The presidential candidate expressed surprise at the reaction of Wike’s camp because apart from the Rivers chapter of the party, all other states forwarded the names of people who they desired in the presidential campaign council of the party.

The Wazirin Adamawa through a statement on Wednesday, stated that the decision of Ayu to resign his appointment as the chairman of the party is personal.

He said he (Atiku) and anyone else cannot make that decision on behalf of the chairman of the party.

While addressing with journalists in Port Harcourt, the capital of the state, on Friday, Governor Wike said, “Yes, I agree. Atiku can do without me. They can do without me in the other states but not Rivers State.”
