Osimhen sets new record, ranked 8th position in 2023 Ballon d’or nomination
Nigeria Victor Osimhen has been ranked number 8 among the 30 nominees at this year’s Ballon d’Or which was held in Paris on Monday night
The 8th position secured by the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Napoli Striker is a testament tó his incredible performance at both national team and club football.
By the virtue of the position, he is the highest placed African on the chart and the feat is likely going to shape the African Footballer of the Year Award holding in Morocco in December.
Next to him in the ranking is Mohamed Salah of Egypt who placed 11th, Morocco’s Yassine Bounou is number 13 while Cameroon’s Andre Onana is number 23.
Osimhen played a vital role last season when Napoli won the title. The Nigerian Striker scored 26 league goals to help his side win the Serie A trophy for the first time in 33 years.
He also becomes the first Nigerian to ever get to be ranked among the top ten
